What changes the price
A range only means something if you know which end of it you are at. These are the six things that decide.
How many players
One drummer makes a strong solo statement; two or three trade rhythms and lift a room; a full group is the loudest, biggest sound a wedding hires for a baraat or a reception entrance. More players means more fees, and it's the single biggest lever on the final figure — which is why we start by asking what moment actually needs covering, not by assuming the biggest group is the right one.
How many appearances
A single set costs less than a drummer who plays the arrival, returns for the reception entrance, then plays again for the first dance. Each extra appearance on the day adds waiting time and sometimes an extra journey, so it adds to the figure — but one drummer covering several moments still costs less than booking separate acts for each.

Do you charge extra for travel?
No — travel within the UK is inside every figure quoted on this page. What that means in practice is that the number you agree is the number you pay, with no mileage line appearing on the invoice afterwards
Is there a deposit?
Yes, and it is taken when the date is held rather than when you first enquire. The amount and whether it is refundable are set out in the terms above, and they match our terms page word for word.
Do you charge more on a Saturday or in summer?
Peak Saturdays cost more than a weekday, and summer more than winter. A weekday in February and a weekday in June cost the same as each other, so it is the day of the week and the season together that move the figure rather than the month on its own.
What happens if my event overruns?
Tell us on the day and we will usually stay. Overrunning is charged at an agreed rate rather than at whatever seems fair afterwards, and that rate is in your written confirmation before the day so nobody is negotiating at midnight.
Can you beat a quote I have had elsewhere?
Usually not, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. A cheaper quote is sometimes genuinely cheaper — a local solo player with no travel doing one appearance is a legitimately lower-cost booking — and where it is not, the section above sets out what is normally missing from it.

Almost nobody in this category publishes a figure, and the reason usually given — that every booking is different — is true and beside the point. Every booking being different is an argument for a range with the variables explained, not for making somebody send three emails to find out whether they can afford you at all.
What a Range Is Not
It is not a quote, and it is not a rate card. It is the bracket your booking almost certainly falls into, published so you can decide whether to keep reading. The figure you are given afterwards is fixed once it is confirmed.
If You Are Comparing
Ask every supplier the same four questions: is travel included, what is the deposit, what happens if someone is ill, and can you send your insurance certificate. The answers tell you more than the number does.
