Most couples book three short appearances rather than one long set: the arrival, the entrance to the reception, and the start of the evening. Each one is a few minutes of playing at the moment the room turns, which is where percussion does the work — a continuous set through a sit-down meal is rarely what anyone actually wants. We agree the three points against your running order before the day, so the planner and the venue both know when we are on.

Most will, but a room with a sound limiter needs the conversation early rather than on the day. Limiters cut the power when a threshold is crossed, and an acoustic drum is loud enough to trip one that was set for a DJ, so the fix is agreeing where we play and at what strength — often outside for the arrival and inside at a lower dynamic. Send us the venue and we will ask them the question directly if that is easier.

Yes, and it is one of the most common ways this is booked. Playing over a DJ set needs nothing more than a quick word about tempo and which tracks to lift; playing with a live band needs their agreement first, because it is their arrangement we would be joining. We will speak to whoever is on before the day rather than turning up and improvising it.

A solo player needs about two metres square and no power at all. That is the whole requirement for an acoustic set, which is what most weddings book. If you want amplification for a larger room we will say so when we quote, along with what it needs, so it is on the venue’s list rather than a surprise on the day.

The booking is with us, not with one individual, so a replacement comes from the same pool and the date is still covered. That is the practical reason to book a group rather than a person found on a social media profile. It has to be said plainly because it is the question people are too polite to ask.
