Questions people ask
How far in advance should we book a drummer?
Three to six months is comfortable for a wedding, and a fortnight is often enough for everything else. Peak Saturdays in summer go first, so a date already in the diary is worth asking about early — but short notice is normal work, and a close date is worth a call rather than writing off.
What happens if the venue has a sound limiter?
An electronic kit or low-volume cymbals keep a capped room inside its limit. Tell us the level the venue enforces when you enquire and the set-up is chosen around it, which is a far better outcome than a limiter cutting the power mid-set.
Do you bring your own kit and backline?
Yes, unless the venue or your band is providing backline. What is being brought — full kit, shells only, or percussion — is agreed in writing before the booking is confirmed, so nothing is assumed on the day.
Can you learn a specific song for our set?
Yes, provided the charts or recordings reach the player once the booking is confirmed. Anything that has to be learned from scratch needs the most notice, so send the must-play list with your enquiry rather than in the final week.
How long is a typical set?
Two forty-five-minute sets with a break between them is the usual shape for an evening. Ceremonies and drinks receptions are shorter and quieter, and a full running order is agreed in advance so the timings match the rest of your day.
Do you travel outside your home area?
Yes, including abroad. Travel is quoted inside the figure you are given rather than added afterwards, so the number you agree is the number you pay.

What Changes the Brief
Three things move a booking more than anything else: whether the venue has a sound limiter, whether backline is provided, and how much of the set has to be learned in advance. Sorting all three before the booking is confirmed is what keeps the day dull in the best possible way.
